A Tribute to Art Thompson

As a friend of Art Thompson's, you surely know of Art's commitment to the LGBT community and his conviction that all people be treated with respect and afforded the same rights. You may not know however, that Art passed away recently. After a courageous battle with cancer, Art peacefully passed on March 20th.

As a reminder of all that he did for The Center, a number of current and former board and staff members are raising the funds to name the Executive Director's Office in our new building in celebration of Art.

Art served as the Executive Director of The Center from 2002 to 2005, during a particularly trying time in our history. Art lead us through some lean years, always ensuring that our doors remained open and continuing to provide the greatest number of services possible. Art was also instrumental in stewarding Roy Wood, a donor whose planned gift enabled The Center to first consider the reality of owning our own home.

In a collective effort, Patti Klinge and Connie MacArther, Clemmie Engle, John Hummel, Ben Riggs, Ron Hyman, Morris Price, Kyle Velte, Hope Wisneski, and Courtney Errico have already raised over half of the $50,000 naming opportunity for the Executive Director's Office. We are asking you to join in their effort to honor our friend and colleague by sending in a gift today.

Your gift can be sent to the attention of Debra Pollock at:

The Center
1301 E. Colfax Avenue
Denver, CO 80218

You can also reach Ms. Pollock with questions at 303-951-5204.

We sincerely hope you will consider helping us complete this tribute to Art, so that his memory may live on in The Center - to which he gave so much of himself.
