Apply to be on the Board
The Center is seeking two to three candidates to serve on its Board of Directors.
Board members play a critical leadership role in advancing the mission of organization by participating in three key roles: policy, positioning, and fundraising.
The mission of The Center is to engage, empower, enrich, and advance the, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community of Colorado.
In 2012, The Center launched its new three-year strategic plan and created a new vibrant vision:
The Center will be a recognized leader in creating a safe, healthy, inclusive and affirming Colorado for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people. We will engage the individual and collective strengths of our community and its allies to promote and develop leadership, unity and pride. We will connect the community to our vision and to one another through diverse communications, vibrant programs and essential resources.
Board Members are appointed for three year terms of office and receive no financial compensation for their service. (See Board Summary of Responsibilities for detailed listing of board member expectations.)
To be eligible for appointment, candidates must be at least 18 years old. In addition, it is highly desirable that candidates possess the following:
1. Concerned and committed to furthering the rights of LGBT people as well as developing programs and services that contribute to a strong, healthy and inclusive community.
2. Able to commit to expectations outlined in the Board Member Agreement.
3. Possess some knowledge concerning the successful administration of a non-profit, governmental or business entity.

The Board’s Governance Committee will review all applications and applicants will be notified concerning the status of their applications and subsequent steps in The Center’s recruitment effort. Candidates should be prepared to have a background check and participate in an interview.
