Transgender Programs

Through our Transgender Community Advisory Committee, The Center provides programming, support and services tailored for Colorado's transgender community.

The word transgender was created in the 1980s as an umbrella term to refer to all gender non-conforming people. It covers drag queens and kings, cross-dressers, transsexuals and genderqueer people. As transgender author Joanne Herman said in her book, Transgender Explained: "Regardless of whether or not you consider yourself transgender, we all likely have common concerns that give us good reason to work for transgender acceptance."

The Center offers weekly transgender social and support programs, a Transgender speakers bureau, and ongoing educational and networking sessions throughout the year.
